Yield Challenge Registration is Still Open!
Take part in the 2013 Yield Challenge and see how far you can boost your yields. Top grower over 100 bushels per acre wins $5,000! Growers in each district who see the highest percent increase in yields also will be awarded – first place will receive $500 and second place will receive $250. Registration and cropping plans must be entered by July 1. Registration is $25 per entry.
Out Planting Soybeans? Keep These Tips in Mind for a Good Start
The cool, wet spring has delayed soybean planting. But as farmers take the fields, they should keep in mind these four factors to get the crop off to a good start: 1) soil moisture, 2) planting depth, 3) seed-to-soil contact and 4) planting equipment calibration. Early Registration for Conservation in Action Tour Ends June 1
The deadline for early registration for the Conservation Technology Information Center’s 2013 Conservation In Action Tour is June 1. The tour will explore innovative conservation practices in and around the Indian Creek watershed in Livingston County, Ill. Discounts are $75 for CTIC members ($125 after June 1); $100 for non-members ($150 after June 1); and $25 for producers, media and federal/state employees ($60 after June 1). Registration includes the July 9 evening social and drinks and July 10 snacks, bus transportation, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Special rates for hotel rooms also are available through June 16.
